Once you have made your way through customs and passport controls Michelle in Morocco will be waiting at the airport to greet you and welcome you to Morocco! We will transport you to your Riad for the evening where you can relax, refresh and unwind that evening. You will have a delightful dinner in your riad and get to know your fellow travelers and ask questions you may have about the upcoming adventure.

Today, our adventure toward the Sahara begins! After enjoying a traditional Moroccan breakfast, we’ll board our private van and set out on a breathtaking drive—about three hours—through winding mountain passes and scenic landscapes on the way to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. Our first highlight of the day is a visit to Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most iconic ksars (fortified villages) in Morocco. Built entirely from clay and earth, this ancient stronghold has stood for centuries along the old caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakesh. This morning, after breakfast at Hara Oasis Lodge, we say goodbye to the peaceful palm groves of the Draa Valley and begin our journey back to vibrant Marrakesh. Today’s drive is not just about covering distance—it’s a scenic adventure in itself, as we travel through some of Morocco’s most dramatic landscapes. Our route winds through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass at over 7,000 feet. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of jagged peaks, terraced Berber villages clinging to the hillsides, and endless valleys shifting in color with the light. We’ll make stops to stretch, enjoy tea, and take photographs of this stunning mountain scenery. By late afternoon, we arrive back in Marrakesh, where you’ll check into a charming traditional riad such as Riad N’s (or a similar boutique property). After days of desert sands and mountain passes, the riad feels like an oasis of comfort, with its tranquil courtyard, intricate Moroccan design, and warm hospitality. After breakfast at your riad, it’s time to say goodbye to the Red City and the unforgettable landscapes, cultures, and experiences that have made this journey so special. Depending on your flight time, you may have a few last moments to stroll through the Medina, sip mint tea on a rooftop terrace, or simply relax in the peaceful courtyard of your riad. When it’s time, your private driver will transfer you to Marrakesh Menara Airport for your onward flight.
